Bruny Island is made for adventure. This streamlined active day tour is designed for travellers who want to get outside, explore the island and experience its wild landscapes, with a focus on walking, hiking, nature and getting amongst it.
We’ll spend the day exploring some of Bruny Island’s most beautiful natural environments, combining short hikes, rainforest, beaches, lagoons and coastal scenery. At least one walk of approximately 1.5 hours will be included in the day, with the exact trail chosen based on weather, track conditions and the group. Walks may include sections of Fluted Cape, Cape Queen Elizabeth or the Grassy Point Track. This is about getting outside and experiencing Bruny Island by foot. The pace is active but achievable, with plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs, breathe in the fresh air, spot wildlife and experience the island environment.
Our adventure takes us into the Mavista rainforest, where we'll explore the lush temperate forest and discover a completely different side of Bruny Island. We'll also seek out beautiful beaches, quiet lagoons and scenic nature spots along the way. Depending on the weather and conditions, there will be opportunities for a swim, so bring your swimmers and be ready to get amongst it.
We recommend bringing your own lunch and snacks for the day, which you can enjoy at a scenic picnic spot out in nature. We'll also make a stop at the Adventure Bay shop, giving you an opportunity to purchase any additional food or supplies you may need.
After an active day exploring the island, the pace slows down and we shift from adventure to flavour. The afternoon is about unwinding, enjoying good company and experiencing some of Bruny Island's famous local produce. There'll be an opportunity to enjoy a cheese platter, local beer and cider, and fresh oysters, depending on availability and the day's itinerary.
It's a chance to put your feet up, swap stories from the day's adventures and get to know your fellow travellers. The combination of active exploration and a relaxed afternoon of Tasmanian food and drink makes this more than just a sightseeing tour — it's a day to experience Bruny Island, share it with others and enjoy the island's flavours at the end of the day.
We've designed this tour specifically for active travellers who want a fun, social and hands-on way to experience Bruny Island. You don't need to be an experienced hiker, but you should be comfortable walking on uneven tracks and spending a good part of the day outdoors.

This is an active sightseeing tour, so come prepared to get out and explore. Walks are generally short, with at least one walk of approximately 1.5 hours included, but you'll be spending plenty of time outdoors and on your feet. Conditions and the exact itinerary can change depending on the weather and what's best for the group on the day.
We offer 10 streamlined pickup points throughout Hobart CBD, with pickups starting before 7:15 AM. Our early departure is designed to get you onto Bruny Island efficiently and back to Hobart around 4:30 PM, helping you make the most of your day and minimise time spent waiting in the ferry queue.
We recommend bringing your own lunch, snacks and water. There will be a stop at the Adventure Bay shop where you can purchase additional food or supplies if needed.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, swimmers, a towel, water, sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing. You never know when that Tasmanian weather might decide to throw something at us!
